No, you don't need to turn off VO when the phone recive a call.
is two ways to fix this issue. One is when the phone rings, you have
to push the volume button, it  will  make more audible the ring sound.
The second way is go to settings, sound, and in the item of volume,
flick up or down, in the way that you want.
