We have levers in the apartments. It's kind of like iPhone with no Home Button, you just use the lever, not at all intimidating.

I prefer a good smartlock deadbolt and a nice lever-style handle, but then I am Germany and we never had round door handles which you had to twist, even when I was a little child in the late 60's interior as well as exterior doors had lever-style push down handles.
