Hello Rick, Richard, et al, Rick, I experience the exact same random Siri unlock prompt, from time-to-time, just as you described. I probably encounter the prompt 3 or 4 times a week, at most when asking Siri to call a contact.
While I do find it curious, as I have witnessed non-Voice Over users encounter the same prompt on various Face ID enabled devices running the latest commercial release of OS 16, I, for the most part, just unlock the device and go on. Just wanted you to know that you are not alone on this one. What makes this so difficult to pinpoint is that sometimes it works just fine so it is hit or miss to reliably reproduce it but it happens often enough to be aggravating. I just asked Siri to call NFB Newsline and it did with no fuss. I'm not sure what setting would impact this behavior unless it is Allow Siri when locked. If that is off, that would explain it I think. If that is on, then try toggling it off and then on again. I love siri for what it can do but I find the following behavior to be extremely annoying and am wondering if there is a solution for it. I have Face ID enabled but Siri insists on saying I have to unlock my phone first before executing simple commands like just asking her to call or message someone which seems to be totally unnecessary. For a while there I tried simply disabling the pass code and Face ID but don’t like the idea of having my phone unprotected. Has anyone come up with a way around this, or is this a known bug?
