To me, the discussion isn't about facial recognition as in naming the person, but rather giving a description of the facial features. Seeing AI has a channel where you can train it to recognize a picture you take of a person and assign a name to that picture after 3 successful photos have been taken. That is very different from combing the internet looking for matches to a particular face.
