Do you have a Mac or a Windows machine? I know that with a Mac you can download with Mactubes and then you could probably use tonido or phonedrive to download to your i-device. If you use a windows or linux machine, you would have to download from youtube some other way. I don't know if there's a way to download from youtube directly on your iPhone but I will do some searching for you. This is actually what you are asking, right? 'Can I download from youtube directly on my i-device?" As far as the legality and/or ethical issues, I don't know; I do know that Mactubes, which can be bought in the Mac app store, downloads but beyond that I can't advise you.
