Hi Richard, You have to differenciate between what “Apple” says and what a random “Apple employee” says whether that is an employee at a store or from Apple Accessibility or Apple Technical Support. Yes, in a perfect world they would all be perfectly trained and know everything, but they don’t, they are people and have opinions and misconceptions.

The actual strength of the charger is not even that much which you can check by sticking any steel object to it, I just happened to have a 4-inch #2 Roberts screw driver bit sitting here and while it sticks to the Belkin MagSafe charging stand I have, it is not a strong attachment. But along with the magnets in the iPhone (on compatible models), the attachment is relatively secure. I love how MagSafe chargers work and would never go back to anything else and I only use a cable if I don’t have any other choice. If somebody who has an iPhone SE wants to use MagSafe then it is certainly completely safe and OK to buy a MagSafe compatible case and use it that way.
