Hello CD, I must apologize for giving you the wrong gesture. It's a
3-finger double-tap to turn speech on and off. No wonder it didn't work
for you. Let me explain better and perhaps it will work. Here's what I
do when I don't want VO to be heard.
1. Get to the record button and tap it once with one finger so that it
has focus.
2. Do a 3-finger double-tap to mute speech. VO will say speech off. At
this point it's actually still running, but the speech is disabled.
However all the gestures still work as if speech was on.
3. Make sure you don't accidentally touch another part of the screen
until you are ready. Doing so will select something other than the
record button.
4. When you are ready to begin double-tap the screen with one finger and
this will double-tap the record button you selected in step 1.
5. Speak your recording.
6. Double-tap the screen with one finger to finish recording.
7. Now turn speech back on with a 3-finger double-tap. (see, I got the
right gesture this time).
8. Now speech will be enabled and you can review your message.
Hope this time it helps.

Excuse me! I asked the question because I didn't know what was going on.
OK following your reply I found the record button. Then I did a two finger
double tap to stop the speech. Then I did a one finger double tap to start
recording. When I was finished I did a one finger double tap to stop
recording then a two finger double tap to bring speech back but when I
recorded it still said stop button.

What's not working. Did you do a 2-finger double tap? When you did, what did
you hear? If you want help, you need to provide more details <smile>.

Hi, what I recommend is you mute Voice Over before you start recording.
When you get to the point that you are going to double tap the screen to
activate the record button, do a 2-finger double-tap first, then double
tap
like normal. When after it's recorded you can re-enable speech and unmute
Voice over with another 2-finger double tap.

I just changed my voice mail message and I can't get rid of it saying
