That is exactly my point. You may have connectivity to your router but if that has no connection to the outside world then you will only be able to access local resources via that gateway.
Malcolm Parfitt Malcolm, in my experience, this is not always reliable, just because you have a WiFi connection to the router doesn’t necessarily mean your router is connected to the internet. Sent from my iPhone Not sure of your exact setup but here in the UK I currently have EE-Hub-F4c5 , 3 of 3 Wi-Fi bars on my status. This means that I have good connectivity to my router. If the connection between the outside world and my router was to be interrupted I would still have the same status reported but my iPhone would not be able to access data and services via that gateway.
My iPhone would then fall back to using what we call mobile data to access facilities outside of my local network.
So I would have a 4G signal reported as Mobile Service 1 of 4 bars, signal strength.
So if my router lost connection to the outside world I would then use my data allowance from my provider IDmobile currently with a 7GB allowance. Malcolm Parfitt Hi Debbie, I can still see the status bar at the top of my iPhone 14. No problem.
I thought in the past that the status bar did show when you are connected to the internet, but I must be dreaming. Now when I have internet connectivity problems I go to settings and wifi like Richard. If you are not connected to the internet it will show there. I have not had the problem that Richard is having. But it would be nice if the internet status was on the status bar. We share 1 GB per month...I have since left cellular data turned off and made sure that all the individual apps show cellular off, so when I find the status bar says I have wi-fi, but I really don't, I get the message that cellular is turned off for such and such an app. Then, I open settings, and Wi-fi will show my home network, and only rarely say not connected, but if I turn wi-fi off, wait a few seconds, turn it back on and have it reconnect to my home network, then it is connected.Apple ran a diagnostic on my iPhone remotely and nothing showed up as a problem. But, the really strange thing is my wife's wi-fi only iPad and my wi-fi only iPad don't ever seem to have this issue, neither do our laptops that are only connected via wi-fi.It is annoying, but I can usually work around it with the turning wi-fi off then back on approach.I'm not ready to buy a new phone over this yet. When I am out and about and want cellular data access I will turn it on for however long I need it and then turn it off again to avoid maxing out our data limit. We only pay about $16 per month for our phone service which is why we leave it at the 1GB shared data.Richard, USA"At the moment of commitment, the universe conspires to assist you."-- Wolfgang Von Goethe My web site: https://www.turner42.com/Microsoft Windows Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3155) JAWS version 2024.2403.3-----Original Message-----From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Gerardo CorripioSent: Thursday, March 14, 2024 5:44 AMTo: iPhone List <[email protected]>Subject: Internet's connectivity status on IPHone's Status Bar?I've been several days without Internet from my cable company here in Mexico, and so whenever I call Izzi Telecom's TEch Support line, they ask me if on the IPhone's Status Bar (at the very top of the screen where you've got the Battery info, Time…), if it says if I've got Internet or not, right? I do see the 3 of 3 bars of Izzi $C5C showing, but when I go into Youtube or Safari, or access Facebook or such, I'm unable to navigate. So I found this curious, and once at my MOm's, where I've got Internet and everything's working as it should, I checked the Status Bar AGain, and it does show my MOm's Internet of Telmex so-and-so, but it doesn't show whether the INternet is connected, when I know it is!So all this brings me to wondering what's the deal with this? Does the Internet-connected Icon show up on the Status BAr for the sighted, but it's VoiceOver's fault that this icon isn't recognized or seen?So what other way (apart from having to actually go in and try working with online content, is it possible for us VoiceOver users, to see at a glance if the Internet is connected or not? As mentioned before, the Status bar does show the Wifi signal itself, but the Internet's availability is the deal here. For instance, on Windows 7 and 10, on the STatus bar (Insert+F11) it shows if the Internet is connected or not (aside from the WiFi name); something like this is what I'm looking for in iOS.Thanks for any info.GeraEnviado desde mi iPhone SE (2nd Generation) de Telcel-- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.If you have any questions or concerns about the running of this list, or if you feel that a member's post is inappropriate, please contact the owners or moderators directly rather than posting on the list itself.Your V iPhone list moderator is Mark Taylor.
