Vicki, if you can find Rita Howel's tutorial on how to use phones without the Home Button, if you are anything like I am, you'll never look back. I am not sure where you would find it. Here is what I can tell you:
To open phone, place finger at the bottom of the phone, and you'll hear a little bleep. Slide finger up until you hear one more bleep, and you will be at your home page. Slide from bottom bleep to Home Page bleep and then to the next one, which has taken you to App Switcher. If you want Control Center, place finger at the very top of your screen; you'll hear the little bleep. Slide finger down to the next Bleep, and you are at Control Center, and one more, and you'll be at Notifications. You don’t have to use Face Id with any phone. The only draw back is that you will have to use a passcode every time you want to unlock your phone if you have one set up. I really advise you to set one up as that puts your phone at risk for a lot of things. Just my humble opinion.
