I agree with the slide to type, but both of these are personal preference, I personally like the predictive text function.

They are both a pain in the butt for VoiceOver users. If those are off, touch typing works very well because you do not have to slide unless you touch the wrong letter, then slide to the correct letter and lift. It works great. Split Tap means holding one finger on the icon then while keeping that finger in contact with the screen, tap with any other finger then release.
