I agree that Siri is very stupid when it comes to dictation. I read before on
Applevis and even on Apple's own support pages how you are supposed to say
"Caps" if you want to start a word with a capital letter or how you can say
"all caps" and all that, this has never worked for me. Similarly I wish there
was a reliable way to tell Siri if you wanted a particular number value written
out or as a digit, e.g. "Five" vs. "5", but if there is I have yet to find it
after 13 years of using Siri.
In this example I don't think there is any way to do this, I have tried saying
the 5-digit number followed by "space" and "9" and what I get is the number
followed by the word "space" and the word "nine". I checked again online and
read you should say "spacebar" instead of "space", but when I did this it
inserted two words "space bar". I also tried "blank" and "blank space", but
each time it simply writes out those words.
I think figuring out how to set up a shortcut for this is probably the way to
go. Alternatively, put the transit phone number in the Favourites or Pin the
conversation to the top of your Messages list and then either type in the
number or you could dictate it including the "9" because if you dictate a
longer number it will typically get written as a number. Then you would just
have to go back to the 9 and manually insert a space.
You could also set up keyboard shortcuts for your most used bus stops and
routes, in your example you have 50325 9
You could create a keyboard shortcut called "hbs" for "home bus stop", then
enter 50325 9 as the text.
When it comes to keyboard shortcuts you want to make sure you choose an
abbreviation you can type easily yet it should be unique, i.e. you wouldn't
want to use "home" because you don't want the number sequence to appear each
time you type the word home.
I have keyboard shortcuts set up for my email addresses, e.g. I use "eeb" for
my business email address and "eeo" for my outlook.com email address, "eeg" is
for my gmail address. Note it's a double e since I at least can't think of any
words which start that way. If I type "eeo" followed by the spacebar or enter,
it expands to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>

Subject: Re: Dictating to Siri?

Out in the internet, there is a list of SIRI punctuation words that SIRI will
translate.

I have used:

hae SIRI numeral numerical phrase

You can try hae SIRI

  numeral 50325 numeral 9

SIRI is not always translating correctly.

Maybe it's the voice. Maybe the dictate speed.

SIRI seems to be reliable when translating these words:

comma, full stop, ellipsis , quote and end quote and explanation mark.

The question mark is not always translated to the correct punctuation mark.

Can you include words or just the numbers. perhaps saying the individual

Hi, group.
In Vancouver, Canada, I send a text message to Translink (the Bus company when
I need to know what time the next bus would be at my bus stop. I have to give
two pieces of information in this text message: five digit bus five digit Bus
Stop Number and one or two one or two digit bus number. for instance,
50325 9. I have saved the Bus company number as Bus Stop. When I ask Siri to
send a message to Bus Stop, how would I dictate the following to Siri?
'50325 9'.
Thanks!

I would create a shortcut to do this. I believe you can put text message
content into a shortcut along with the destination name.
