I have theCafelat Robot <http://www.cafelat.com/robot.html> . It’s a manual lever machine. Some say it’s the Aeropress of espresso machines as you’re guided by the tactile feedback (resistance when pulling a shot). No electronics, no inaccessible menus or touch sccreens. It’s built like a tank and will probably outlast the eventual zombie apocalyps. With espresso machines, you generally get what you pay for. The Robot is around $400, but it pnuches way above its price point and again, more importantly, it’s completely accessible. You do have to get a scale that’ll fit between the legs under the portafilter. In my case, I went with the Acaia Lunar scale which is rediculously overpriced and probably overkill, but I figured what I saved on the Robot,I’d spend on the scale. I use the Lunar with the Filtru app. <https://apps.apple.com/us/app/filtru-buy-brew-coffee/id1150921819> It’s completely accessible and the dev is good about maintaining accessibility. The robot inventor is an English guy out of Hong Kong and while you can buy directly from the Hong Kong factory, I bought mine from Cafune Coffee out of Canada. I think Prima Coffee is the distributor in the US. I have a coffee maker that makes ice coffee, but I would like to know of another machine because I’ve had this one for a long time and don’t know how long it will continue to last. I don't remember the model, but I can check it for you. My friend has it and I used it myself when I visited. There are five sizes of drinks, the possibility to make cold drinks, and for coffee, you can use strong or not. No need for an app, although if you are not sure of something, you can call a volunteer on Be My Eyes. The digital screen is large and easy to see. The only thing with Keurig is that every drink they make, from coffee to tea and apple cider, looks the same. So your friend will have to separate or label them. Nespresso machines are usually simple to use. You can buy a simple one, which usually has only two buttons on the top: short and long. They make coffees and sometimes flavoured coffees, but nothing else. Hope this helps. A friend of mine who is totally blind is interested in an espresso machine I am interested in getting one for her as a birthday present, but I know nothing about them. I've read there are Wi-Fi machines and ones that do not run on Wi-Fi but other than that, have no idea, hoping someone in this group can shed some light for me. What are the differences between these machines and a Keurig? Which models are the best and why and would there be a particular model that would be easiest to operate if you have no vision? Also did a search and found out there is an app. Is it accessible or not? Sorry for all the questions. I am assuming Nespresso machines just make coffee or do they make other drinks as well? Thanks.
