Try this: Go to settings. Go to Accessibility. Go to Siri. Swipe to, Announce notifications on speaker. See if that setting is on, if so turn it off.

Actually, I tried it, and it did not work. Voiceover still reads the texts. Any other suggestions? Thank you.
Hi Barbara, You can try the following: Go to Settings > Notifications > Messages > turn off preview. Speaking of message notifications, is there a way to get Voiceover to just notify me that a message has come in without reading the message to me? I just got an Iphone 15 and it does this whenever I receive text messages. In contrast, my iphone 8 just makes the text sound and voiceover says one notification and I can read the actual message at my leisure. I prefer this method of notification. Is there a way to change this setting? Running IOS 18.0 on an SE 2, I'm not finding Customize Notifications
after Settings > Notifications > Messages > and nothing about customize
or repeat. I only remember this starting with IOS 17 something. Maybe
I inadvertently changed a setting. I' greatly appreciate it if someone
could tell me where to find it.
