Back in what seems almost like the dark ages now when Seeing AI was first released, Microsoft stated that the Short Text channel did everything locally on the iphone.
I believe the rest use the web servers of Microsoft. I didn’t find the privacy statement in my quick check, but I suspect it is there. I had always thought that Seeing AI sent everything to some server to process it and send it back. So, I just tried an experiment. I turned airplane mode on, Wi-Fi off, and then tried Seeing AI to analyze short text and documents. It could recognize short text, but told me that I needed an Internet connection to recognize documents. As I have said all along, I wouldn't want to be sending many checking account numbers or credit card numbers to these servers to be recognized. The only one that I know can recognize everything on this phone is VDScan.
