I have always kept background app refresh off as I never found it to be helpful. I can go all day and then some on a full charge with my 16 pro. I don't bother with push for email though, as it downloads plenty fast when I open the mail app. Since I'm retired, I don't have to be on top of every email, whereas since you are running a business, it makes sense to keep it on.

I was in Vancouver recently so I went to the Apple Store and they ran a bunch of tests and diagnostics on my phone and everything came back clean. The Apple Genius did say I should turn of background app refresh and I do admit that on earlier phones I did have it off for almost all apps, but I thought if Apple gives a battery estimate then one should expect it is with all features enabled. In any case, I decided to turn background app refresh off completely and it does actually make a big difference and so far I can't really tell a difference where having it on actually gives me something I don't get when it is turned off. Before when I started out with my phone charged to 100% say at 8 AM, I often got the 20% low battery warning by late afternoon, now with background app refresh turned off, I am usually still at well over 50% at that time. I know you can turn off other things or set your email to only get mail once an hour instead of setting it to Push, but I am not buying a high-end phone only so I then disable half the features. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Penny Reeder Sent: Friday, May 9, 2025 7:54 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: 16 E opinions wanted I like my 16E very much. It is reliable in terms of WiFi connectivity and the longer battery life is something I especially appreciate.
