Hi.

I'm going to get a new Galaxy tablet on Friday, when I get paid.

If you, like me, have exclusively used Apple phones and tablets, I'll warn you
it's a bit different than what I was used to. Talk Back is standard with the
OS, but here's where things are different. First, Don't assume a lot of the
accessibility features are on the Android. I was getting very frustrated with
Samsung, and the first three people I talked to either asked me to run an app
that would let them do things on the Galaxy 7 I've have leant to me, or if I
had a sighted person that could help me. I'm sure I could find a neighbor to
help, but I'm proud to say that with some calls to whatever I have have been
good enough to get me going. I feel bad about how I treated those folks,
because I've done what they do, and it can be pretty stressful for them. I did
try once again, and got a woman who reminded me about how to get to the apps
screen. The problem was I was thinking of how Apple does things, rather than
understand Android's philosophy. As an example, Apple has things like Siri
installed, so you can start using that right away. Android, on the other hand,
doesn't have a speech to text app on it out of the box, so you have to go to
the app play store to get Google Assist. Once I grasped that, all went well.
This isn't a complaint, butit's a bit different.

As for the gestures, So far, I prefer how Android does things. Instead of doing
a three finger swipe, for example, it's a 2 finger movement. The Roter is much
easier than Apple. I'm just starting to learn how things work, and I'm getting
things pretty much the way I want. The only thing I haven't had any luck with
is getting the tablet to respond to me when the screen is powered off. I'll
learn how to do that sooner or later, I have a training session a week from
tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to that. I'm also hoping that Droid, unlike
Apple, when you put music on it and play a track, It doesn't create a small
file for whatever it does. It's not visible to an Apple user, but if you
transfer the tunes back to Windows, you get a lot of these small files, and
lots of small stuff grows to pretty big fairly quickly.

Just my experiences so far.

Have a blessed day and don't work too hard.

Kevin and Shrimpy Lily the lover

I would agree with this, you can achieve the same results with both platforms,
both platforms are accessible and have built in screen readers, so we have the
same choices as sighted folks and that’s a good thing.
