Hello,
Your advice solved my problem.
First, I had to have the match input and output turned on.
Second, The 2 finger swipe to go through my list of tables, is a quick
way to set another table.
Now I’m using the braille table English Unified contracted.
This gives me what I wanted.
I’m exploring the command mode…this will be useful.
I can get back to using braille. Over the past 40 years, the advance in
electronics has meant less and less of a need for braille.
Thanks,
Peter T.

I am writing this using braille screen input. I use UEB contracted.
My settings under accessibility, VoiceOver, Braille have match input
and output on, and my selected braille table is English Unified
contracted, but I have three braille tables, 8 dot, which is the
systom table and I added UEB uncontracted and contracted.
If you cannot add US Contracted and get it to work with input and
output tables set to on, then there may be another issue going on. I
have a 16 pro.
You may have to reset VoiceOver settings, but I think I would check
with Apple Accessibility first.

Hello,
Now with IOS26, it’s much easier to use braille screen input.
I’d like to type contracted braille but it’s isn’t being converted to
uncontracted text.
I’m changing options in: Settings > availability > Voice Over > braille
The initial and only table was, English uncontracted.
I made changes to options under the Braille heading.
Match input and output tables, switch button off
I found and selected: input English US contracted. Displayed were:
Output: English unified uncontracted, button
Input: English US contracted, button
I assumed that the typing was input and the output went into the edit
field.
I played with turning on and off the match input and output tables
and changing the input and output to US contracted.
There is no recognition of typing contractions.
Am I missing something?
Is there another setting?
