You have to connect it to your Wi=Fi and possibly then through Alexa too. If it isn't connected to your wi=fi, Vesync cannot control it, but once connected, it should work though the app is not my first choice.
It is tricky to find what you want in the app, which is why using Alexa is so nice. Cosori customer service are very helpful in my experience if you just cannot get it working.
