It’s like with everything, you can buy cheap, good, better or best. And especially if something is a hobby or of course if you needed something for professional reasons, people spend money if they can afford it. I have a retail business and sell outdoor and hunting clothing and equipment and I have customers who want a pair of binoculars and spend no more than $200 and others come in and want the top of the line Swarovski binoculars from Austria which in Canadian Dollars are almost $5,000. Some buy a pair of hiking boots from Amazon or Walmart for $50 or a tent foir $79.99 and others come to a store like mine and spend $700 on a pair of Meindl hiking boots from Germany or $1,200 for a 4-season Mountain Hardwear or MSR tent.

While this is Canadian Dollars (about $5,700 US) a lot of people would probably argue that they could buy a new range, fridge and dishwasher for that and still have some left over, but I love cooking and by the time I am doing this kitchen renovation I will be 60 and I want to buy one more cooktop which I know I'll love and enjoy for the next 20 or 25 years. Of course one can't say the same about the iPhone as it's good for 5 or 6 or maybe 7 years, but I can also not think of a single reason why I need 2 Tb of storage, but Joshua does because he is an electronic hoarder (and I don't mean any offense by that). I would much rather spend less than half on the 256 Gb model and store my stuff in some cloud where I can also access it whenever I want and that way I can upgrade again after 2 or 3 years which to me is more valuable than having all that stuff on my iPhone.
