Hi, I've seen more than one of the Defender cases for the iPhone 4 do
this. I think it's a design flaw. I wish I had a better solution. After
getting annoyed with it I had Otterbox replace the case. So, I now have
the used case, plus the replacement, but I've not used them since. I now
just use tpu cases which protect the phone the way I like anyway.
