Hi Marissa,

I just bought 2 new Netgear FVS318N ProSave routers for my business and home
and also had issues. I spend quite a bit of time on the phone with Netgear
support since my initial attempt to upgrade the router to the latest
firmware didn't seem to help much, either. The support agent then told me
that they recommend that after the upgrade one should reset the router to
factory settings and for me that did the trick. Most routers should have a
backup function so what I ended doing is to back up all the custom settings
I had, then I re-installed the router firmware update, I then reset the
router and after it had rebooted I restored the settings from my backup
file.

Apart from this the Netgear support guys also told me that there was
definitely a bit of a connection issue with devices running iOS 6.0 and
6.0.1 but that it was something Apple has to address which apparently they
are in the process of doing.

I know from the Today in iOS Podcast that iOS 6.1 Beta 3 came out last week
and Rob predicted that this would be the last Beta which means we should see
the update soon. I guess with Christmas around the corner it maybe in early
or mid January, but I doubt it would be much later than that.

How old is your router? If it is relatively old and you are considering
buying a new router I would suggest you look at the new Western Digital
routers, they have some pretty high-end ones, I have always been partial to
Netgear product although I would not recommend the ones I bought. They are
in their small business category, they are robust and have the capability to
create a VPN tunnel between the 2 units (at my house and my business) which
is why I bought them. This way I am basically on the local network at my
store when I am at home and can access my computers and data, but for home
use there are better and less expensive choices out there.

Regards,
Sieghard
