The iPad Mini works with the same carriers as your iPhone. I would get a WiFi only version unless you think you will use it a lot when you are away from home, but it will of course cost an extra $100 or so + whatever monthly plan you will have to get. Over a 2-year period it will easily cost again as much as a 32 Gig WiFi only version.
