Connect your iPad to your MBP using the USB data / power cable. Run iTunes and go to the iPad section. You will find several radial buttons. After the radial buttons is a scroll area that you interact with. The radial button you choose determines the information in the scroll area. Under the first or second radial button you will find the option to sync through iCloud or with this computer. Select iCloud and iTunes will sync your computer's calendar and contacts with iCloud which will then sync with your iPad.
