Hi.

I called up Apple, because I wasn't sure how to use my Apple Bluetooth
keyboard with my Apple TV. Well, after waiting forever for the update, I'm
pleased to say it works great. Here are some helpful things for using the
Bluetooth keyboard. I'm going to refer to the Apple keyboard, but if you
use a different one for your iPhone/iPod/iPad, I don't see why it wouldn't
work for your Apple TV.

First, you have to pair your Bluetooth keyboard. This is found under
settings. Of course you'll have to use your Apple TV remote to start
things. I can't remember where in Settings the Bluetooth is, but it's
either on the main screen or it's under general. In either case have your
keyboard in pairing mode and the Apple TV will show your keyboard. Select
it.

Now you'll be prompted for your 4 digit code. Enter this on the keyboard.
Here's my only complaint with this feature. The keys aren't repeated by
VoiceOver on the Apple TV. Once you know this, however, it's not too bad to
enter the numbers, then press ENTER. If all goes well the Apple TV will
tell you the keyboard's paired.

Now for controlling the keyboard. It's really simple. To find something
you want to hear/watch, use the arrow keys to select it, then press ENTER to
activate the option. To go back a menu, press ESC. If you hold the ENTER
or ESC keys, they perform the same thing that the Apple TV remote does when
you hold the buttons. I haven't tried first letter navigation yet, so I
can't report on that.

If you need to enter text into a field, just type it in with the keyboard
and press ENTER when done, or arrow over to your choices and press ENTER on
the one you want.

Hope this helps. I really like the Bluetooth option for controlling the
Apple TV. Now I don't have to point my remote exactly at the Apple TV and
hope it works.

Oh yeah, one other thing. The Bluetooth feature only works with keyboards.
According to the Apple article I read, you can't pair things like headphones
or wireless speakers.

Have a good day, and don't work too hard.

GO CATS!
