the Ballistic Hard Core case has a top and bottom that encloses the iPhone snugly in the case. It is hard to open, so it is intended for the iPhone to stay in the case at all times. The iPhone would only be removed for a major repair.
This is the only downside with the case. Heavy duty cases don't look elegant, fit nicely into suit jackets or in hipster jeans. Remember though it is the nerds that always have awesome gear working and functional when it is needed not the cool guys.
