Hi Grant,

I have often used a damp cloth or towel to wipe down my iPhone and I am not
particularly careful with certain areas. When I mean damp I do of course
really mean just damp, not dripping wet. I have also sometimes used the
cleaning solution and microfiber cloth I bought to clean my LCD TV and
computer monitors. Once again I spray just a small amount on the cloth and
let it soak in, then I wipe the phone down, front, ba k, sides and so on.
It's also not a bad idea to occasionally blow out the connectors if you
happen to have a can of compressed air around.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: Proper way to clean iPhone?

Hello all,

I want to keep my iPhone 5 in tip-top shape so was wondering if anybody has
any insight on the correct way to clean it. I read the following support
article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3226

In a nutshell, they tell you to use a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth,
to avoid household cleaners, and to avoid getting moisture in openings.

A couple things I'm not clear about. Firstly, I'm wondering whether a tiny
dot of dish soap on the cloth would be okay--not dish washing detergent, but
just plain old dish soap. The article didn't really make that clear. It
instructs not to use solvants or abrasives, but I guess I'm picturing that
to mean bleach, windex, alcohol, shoe polish, that kind of thing as being
no-nos.

Also, when they say not to get moisture in openings, is it fine to lightly
wipe the surface with the lightning connector and headphone jack, or should
I completely avoid these areas?

Thanks.

Grant
