Hi,
I agree with Sherrie. Just snip off the ear piece that does not have
the control on it.
The voltage is so small you will not get shocked from the bare wire,
but you may want to put a piece of tape over the cut wire, as the end
may poke at you and be uncomfortable.

I carry one of these all the time in my waist pack...they also work
well at the ATMs with audio assist.
