As the novelty wore off and I began trying to rely on Fleksy to get things done, however, I realized why I was not completely happy with it and why I prefer the normal keyboard. Yes, it's fabulous for entering dictionary words, but I found it difficult to enter anything beyond that. For example, websites, Email addresses, ellipses, names of brands that rely on typing dictionary words with initial capitals, emoticons, acronyms, and so forth proved rather tricky to enter--sometimes you can add words to the custom dictionary but more often than not you'll have to use the QWERTY and symbol keyboards, both of which I find buggy, and the latter I find incomplete. If you try to write out three periods, you'll probably find a space between each of them. And of course you lose out on the spelling checker; you are everyxpected to spell words correctly. I have therefore given up using Fleksy, and my personal gut feeling is that Apple would probably not wish to integrate Fleksy into the OS, at least in its current form. I don't feel that the "elegance" and "simplicity" inherent to iOS are present (beyond the word prediction) and I don't feel it would have universal appeal, beyond being a neat novelty, outside of the VO/Zoom community. I know not everyone feels this way (and I'm particularly keen to hear how others addressed the challenges I presented) but that's just my opinion.
