Lori,
I'm using an app named "DigitEyes" and it is very good when I, as a totally
blind person, can locate the Universal Product Code (UPC). I would presume
that "Bar Code Pro" would be likely as good or at least close -- they cost
the same $19.95. I can say that "DigitEyes" would be extremely effective in
a grocery store, hardware store, department store or any marketplace that
handles a number of products carrying a UPC. The "real time" issue is being
able to locate the UPC. If you are totally blind yourself, anticipate
spending a lot of wasted time shopping -- parsing bar codes for products you
have no intention of buying is the particular culprit in my mind. But, if
you have enough vision to readily find the bar code on most products, I
imagine it would be quite helpful.
I've spent as much as 10 minutes trying to locate a UPC with DigitEyes and I
can't imagine how Bar Code Pro would be any different in this regard.
