I stopped having any problems entering fields when I returned to doing all my navigation directly on the screen. I keep my Braille keyboard connected for typing when at home. I have no problems accessing edit fields.
when you find consistently reproducible steps, send an email to [email protected] fully detailing how to reproduce the problem so they can add it to things which should be considered for fixing. The more reports they get from different people, the higher the importance. That said, sighted people usually do not use the keyboard for navigation, either on an iOS device, or a computer. Considering that blind people are only 0.6% of the market, and we have full access the same way sighted people have access, it is incumbent on us to adjust ourselves to become competent with using the touch-screen directly. The fact is, touch-screen interfaces are now less expensive than control panels with screens and separate buttons. This is the future. It is similar to DOS and the keyboard to Windows and the mouse. Sighted people use the mouse to move the pointer to each edit field. They then click the mouse button. Next, they move the mouse hand to the keyboard and type. When finished typing, they reach back to the mouse to move the pointer to the next field or the OK button. Many Windows programs do not have the built-in facilities to understand commands like tab and arrow keys for changing fields. These programs are inaccessible to the blind, and are in the majority of programs. It does not matter how much people say that doing things directly from the keyboard can be faster. Sighted people are much more comfortable with direct visual influence. Using a mouse pointer provides this. Using a touch-screen provides it even more. It does not matter how much a blind person complains that this is unfair. Again, we are a tiny portion of the market in a visual world. It will always be incumbent on us to adjust.
