The short description is this: The Standscan is an open-sided box which folds flat and if you buy the Pro version it has LED lights which can be powered by a 9 Volt battery or a 12 Volt adapter. It allows you to put your iPhone on the top of the box where the camera lens looks down through a hole and you can put anything you want to scan underneath. The idea is that the LED lights provide perfect lighting and the box is designed to put the iPhone at an optimal distance for a good scan with an OCR app like Prizmo or Text Grabber and of course there is no movement like if you were trying to do the scan holding your iPhone.
