Hi Raul and Others,

Catching up on list reading. HopStop is now pretty widely available
for public transport in cities in the U.S. and Canada, as well as
internationally. This means that if you're comfortable with the user
interface, you can use this as a familiar app when you travel to other
locations. I'll also mention that HopStop can be used along with
another of my favorite apps for POIs, Where To? by Futuretap. When
you have searched for a point of interest and selected it, for
example, a bakery, double tap the "Navigate" button (2nd of 5 at the
bottom of the "Details" screen for your selection. Then, if HopStop
is one of the apps on your device, it will appear in the list of apps
on the "Routing Apps" screen. Flick right until you hear "HopStop",
then flick right to the "Route" button and double tap. HopStop will
launch with your selected POI as the destination and your current
location as the starting point. If you want to adjust any of the
settings, such as planning your route for departure at a later time,
or from a different location, double tap the "Back" button in the top
left corner to get to the main HopStop page, where you set your route
endpoints, time and/or date of departure or arrival, and options for
transportation mode (e.g. "bus", "subawy/rail or bus", "taxi", etc.
The interface to use AroundMe to pass locations on to HopStop is more
tortuous. You have to choose "Maps" as the route app, then start the
navigation, cancel it, and double tap "Directions" as though you want
to start navigating again. Only then can you double tap the "Route"
button to find HopStop among the "routing apps" and select it.

Here's the App Store URL again for the free HopStop app:

HTH. Cheers,
