Hi Alan and Jed, You can set Do Not Disturb to allow calls from people on your Favorites list when Do Not Disturb is on. This way if you put your kids on your Favorites list which I assume you have done anyways, their calls would come through normally and you don't have to allow all their numbers like home or cell, if they are on your Favorites list and if both home and cell numbers are in their contact card it will work.
As you pointed out, you can also allow a call to come through if somebody calls back a second time within 3minutes, it's all there in the Do Not Disturb settings which you find under Settings, Notifications, Do Not Disturb. This is also where you can set a time schedule, e.g. set it to automatically turn on between 11 PM and 7 AM or whatever you want to set. Keep in mind that the Do Not Disturb you see right above Notifications in the main settings area just turns it on manually and it stays on until you turn it off again. If you want to set a schedule and adjust the Favorites or Repeat Call settings you have to to this under Settings and Notifications, the Do Not Disturb is right at the very top. I actually think Apple should implement a separate Allow list because I have people on my Favorites list which I maybe call frequently, but may not necessarily want to allow. At the same time I would like to allow others to get through who are not on my Favorites like friends and relatives in Germany because I usually call them with Skype or using the Groundwire VoIP app with whatever VoIP service I am subscribed to at the time and in that case there really isn't much point in having these people on my Favorites list. I don't believe it will block all callers between set periods or what would be the point. The phone can be turned off if you want to totally left alone and all callers then go directly to voice mail. This option lets you choose options as to who gets through. I should say too that I read about this but have not used it. I leave my phone on all the time. If my children need me, I want them to be able to reach me. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jed Barton" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, March 31, 2013 8:18 AM Subject: The do not disturb feature > Hey guys, > Had a question on the do not disturb feature.
