Try sending down and restarting your phone.  Next step would be to do a reset, 
a soft reset, holding down the lock button and the home button at the same time 
for 10 seconds, let go, and wait for the phone to reboot. If that doesn't work, 
you may have to restore the phone, To its factory settings, but hopefully one 
of those other steps will do the trick.

By the way, have you tried another set of headphones in the iPhone?
