The Feeddler developer is toying with the idea of running his own
server. Naturally, it would take money to run it, so he asks if people
would be interested in a monthly subscription. I told him it’s pretty
hard to beat free, or a one-time payment, but I am a fan of the ease
of use of the app and might be persuaded if the site is a good,
accessible one.
That brings me to another point. I never used Google Reader itself.
The website was a pain, so whatever alternative I go with, I’d like to
at least have the option of consuming content on my PC. Has anyone
come up with some alternatives in that regard?

Yes indeed, when the demise of Google Reader was announced, the
developer of Feeddler tweeted that he'd keep developing it and would
move away from Google Reader, but I've heard nothing more since then
and time is running out. I agree with Matthew, if syncing across
devices isn't important, for now it is pretty hard to beat Lire.
But I do want a solution that keeps my feeds in sync on my iPhone,
iPad and Mac. Hopefully the developer of Feeddler will come through
before the end of next month.
