It's two accounts and not thre, which is still more than one.
Just select Gmail when setting up an account, and you will be able to
sync mail, calendar and notes, depending on which services you have
selected. When looking at my accounts on my iPhone, I see "Google, Mail,
Calendar, Notes" What do you see?
For contacts use Other when setting up an account and select CardDav.
The instructions, and links to instructions, have been posted on this list.
I have no idea what to do on the Apple Mail side. I use Thunderbird, and
I run an add on which keeps my Thunderbird contacts synced with Google
Contacts.

I use apple mail here as well as an iPhone. If I have to setup 3 differing
accounts for this to work, it is going to become very inconvenient. I have
tried with the instructions as given on the gmail site, but my contacts,
calendar and other stuff just won't synch. any other solutions?

I only had to set up two accounts. One handles mail, calendar and notes. This
is just using the default setup for Gmail. The second is for contacts and uses
the CardDav protocol.

Hi again,
I should have edited the subject line because a "CalDAV" account is for
syncing calendars, you need to use a "CardDAV" account to sync contacts. I
still think it's a pain in the neck, if you use Google and want to sync
mail, contacts and calendar you have to set up 3 different accounts, if you
use Outlook.com with Exchange Active Sync you set it up once and it does it
all. I'm sure glad I decided to go with Hotmail/Windows Live 4 years ago
when I decided to stop using my provider's email, yes, changing email
addresses is a bit of work, but I still have my provider's email so one can
do it over time, but once it's done it's well worth it.

the option to make this the standard contacts account and also contacts are
not selected as the items that are synced with htis account. I logged into
the google website but did not get any messages there as if i should
ahthorize it.
