Hi Alan, And just to add to the other explanation, an example of a picker control would be the control with the listing of apps when you do a search in the App Store on the phone. For example, search for "Kindle" and you get a box one swipe left from the "Featured" tab at the bottom left of the phone which says "Kindle, 1 of 25". I only use 25 as an example, but this would mean there are 25 results and you go through them by doing a single finger flick up, this actually moves you down in the list. This is one of these examples where Apple has made the gesture a bit counter intuitive at least when you first think about it. Normally on the computer you would move down the list by using the down arrow and I always felt inclined to flick down to move down the list, but in fact you flick up. Think of having a wall calendar with the pages bound at the top edge. In order to get to the next month you grab the page at the bottom and move your hand up to reveal the next page. Same applies when you want to go from home page 1 to home page 2 with a 3-finger swipe. One might think to swipe to the right as you visualize that you go right, but in fact you swipe to the left like flipping over the page in a book.
