Hi Andrew, yes, your parents should have no problem messaging you using your Email address even if it is not in their contact list. They'll still be able to see that a message or Facetime call is coming from your Email address. What you might want to do is send them a message first, that way they can simply open the conversation and either message or Facetime you from there without having to even type in your Email address.
