Hi

Yeah I will give Apple a ring on Monday (tomorrow here in New Zealand). We
don't have Apple stores so it is online support. This iphone 5 that I have
is the fourth one, the first original bought online through Apple, the next
two were replacements (reconditioned I later found out) and the fourth, the
current one, finally was a replacement with a new unused phone. They all had
the now documented slow wifi issues. My current one I would not like
replaced with a reconditioned, is finally working good with wifi. It has
always been a policy that they don't refund and don't replace with new, all
replacements have been with a lot of dialogue. Just my luck. Thanks for all
the feedback.

Regards

Janine

Hi Janine,

This clearly sounds like a defective phone and I wouldn't even bother trying
to figure out how to fix it, just take it back to Apple or your provider if
you bought it from there. Since this is an iPhone 5 it's at the most less
than 8 months old and clearly still covered by warranty.

Regards,

Sieghard

Hi Fred

No, the phone is the right way up with the power button to the top. A
sighted person had the same outcome using the phone also.

Could the phone be upside down? In other words, could the microphone be
pointing toward the ceiling?

Subject: audio on phone call

Hi

I am back trying to use the iphone 5 for a phone call without headphones.
What am I finding is that when the phone is up to my ear I can hear the
person speak but they can't hear me. When I take the phone away from my ear
it goes to speakerphone and conversation can be heard and made. Bring the
phone back up to my face and I can have it really close to my mouth but the
top end of the phone close to my ear mutes my speech and the caller cannot
hear me. A one way conversion with me holding the phone and not being heard.
I have seen on forums that this has happened to others but can't find a
solution. It seems to be only on the iphone 5. Has anyone on this list
experienced this and knows how to fix it? I want a conversation without
headphones and speakerphone. Many thanks.

Regards

Janine
