Hi Max,

There's an entry for Tapatalk up at AppleVis. This app, which is used
to read and post to forums that support the Tapatalk interface,
generally works with VoiceOver with one major exception: you cannot
read any quoted sections of posts within the app. This means that if
there is a dialogue going on, where someone has quoted a section of
text, all you will hear VoiceOver say is something like "Originally
posted by <name of poster>" , "link", and then whatever is in the post
that isn't quoted. The "link" announcement doesn't really work as a
way to get to or display the original post. The only way to read the
quoted portion of the post seems to be to use the action button to
view the page in Safari. But then you have to navigate to the post in
question to read the quoted section.

VoiceOver may also read an unlabeled button at the start of every
post, but this can be turned off in Settings under the advanced
heading options for thread, if you turn the "avatar" switch button to
off. Then the thumbnail image that forum members ca upload to
associate an image with the poster won't be displayed, and you won't
hear "button" at the start of each post.

Tapatalk 2 seems, by the description posted at AppleVis, to be a major
step backwards in accessibility, with lots of unlabeled buttons and
confusing custom gestures.

I don't know of anyone who has tried the TapaTalk HD version of the
app, that is supposed to be version 1 redesigned for iPad only, but
the TapaTalk Forum App is universal binary, and works on iPhone, iPod
Touch, and iPad. Oddly enough, it seems slightly more accessible on
the iPad Mini than on the iPhone 5. For example, you can double tap to
select a post in the app, then there are options for "Quote", "Share",
or "More". The only way I can get the selection to work on the iPhone
5 is to toggle VoiceOver off, then tap the portion of the screen for
the post I want to select, then toggle VoiceOver back on again. In
both cases you should run your finger vertically down the center of
the screen to reach these options -- probably touching the "Share"
menu item. Then you'll be able to flick and double tap to access the
menu items. This is the only way you can reply with a quote from
within the app, although you can reply without a quote using the text
field at the bottom of the screen and then flick to the "reply" button
and double tap.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
