Hi David, This depends on your carrier--the vast majority of carriers that I've tried in North America, with one exception, include the necessary information so the multiple messages are joined together in such a way as to resemble one message. That is to say, you would not see individual "blocks".
And yes, as you rightly point out, if you're sending multiple messages you'll be charged for them as per your texting plan.
