Hi Raul, Sorry, never requested an app refund so I can't say, but I assume if the app was bought using credit from a gift card that it would be put back as credit. Most places refund using the same method that was used for the purchase.
I also like the gift card option because it is not that hard to find a deal like the one you describeif you watch out a bit. Last time I took advantage of a Safeway promo where they offered $50 iTunes cards for $40, the best I ever found was also from Safeway about a year ago when a $50 card was only $37.
