One end of the usb cable that came with the Kindle has a micro usb
connector, the other end of the cable has a standard usb connector. I can
connect the cable from my ipod touch to it's charger. I just wanted to make
sure it would nod damage my ipod touch by using the Kindle charger?

I am pretty sure the Kindle uses a micro USB, so no it will not work with
your touch. Feel on the flat sides of the plug for two little prongs. If
they are there, it is the USB micro charger. I think I am getting that term
right.
