Hi Sandy, I'm late to this thread, but I agree with Richard about using Voice Dream Reader. If I want to read in translation, I send the results of an OCR to Voice Dream Reader. I think I said that in my earlier posts about using the new version 2 Prizmo app and the "Export" option that could send output to other apps, including Dropbox and, for me, Voice Dream Reader to read in other languages. As an old hand at co-opting translation apps with voices into reading text, especially before iOS expanded the range of languages they supported for both spoke text and recognized voices, I can tell you that they basically just stream output, and there's a maximum size to each buffer. Before there was Voice Dream Reader, I used to use Speak It! by FutureApps to stream text of roughly novella length. (By the way, one of the other good features of Voice Dream Reader, is like Speak It! Output, you can play the text when your screen is locked). I like a number of the Loquendo voices, and one of the advantages of having an iPad when Sonico GmbH was experimenting with adding features to the iTranslate app was that there version for the iPad came with a number of free Loquendo voices for a range of languages. So I used to paste in short story length dialogs to read in different languages in this app, and listen to the Loquendo voices. But really, there's a limit to how much text you can start reading this way with just text-to-speech in a buffer. You'll get much better results from Voice Dream Reader. And you'll be able to have it keep reading your text with the screen locked.
