I have an external battery case for my iPhone, but I seldom carry my iPhone in it because it is too bulky. I do use it to charge my phone, however, because I can slide the phone into the case and the connector is located perfectly every time. No worries about accidently damaging the phone's charging port. Also, I use it when I travel, because the mini USB jack that plugs into the battery case, also works on my Plantronics M 50 headset. Less stuff to carry.
