Hi, Unfortunately not; because you have the newer and unexploitable bootrom, you can only upgrade to the latest iOs. Your options are:
Continue to use iOs4 and use ultrasn0w to unlock. Find a company that will unlock your phone based on its imei and then upgrade to iOs6. Wait until iOs7 is released and jailbroken (Probably a while), hope that the 3GS supports it, hope that ultrasn0w will support it and hope that theres a way of upgrading without upgrading the baseband then unlock like that.
