Hi Max, Christopher referred to the receiver from a provider, I also have a Bell Satellite receiver which has a hard drive and allows you to record and Bell also has an app which allows me to set up a recording or browse the currently playing programs.
When it comes to generic DVD Players/Recorders you just have to check with the company to see if they make an app, I know Sony does have apps for some of the newer devices and I think Yahama does as well.
