You can do this much easier by simply going to settings on the device and
then to General and finally to reset. Then just double tap on reset all
settings.

I have an older iPod touch and want to unregister it and get the stuff off
of it before I get rid of it. Is the "restore" setting in iTunes suppose to
do that? Not restore from back up, just "restore."
