It all depends on what you are looking for. In terms of reading by voice, both work really wel. The Kindle app has a neater interface. When you go into a book, all you get is the page. YOu don'tget extra controls. Braille is finiky in the Kindle app, but it works well in the Nook app,but goodness the layout is weird in the Nook app. There are weird double spaces at points and I can't see a reason for them.
