You can usually save a PDF as a text file from within Adobe Reader on a PC.
Also, if you get Voice Dreamreader you have a big selection of fantastic voices you can get and you can read PDF and Word files with Voice Dreamreader. It is furthermore fairly easy to get the books into the app which can be done with Dropbox.
